Un gâteau? Oui!

I have to say, I really really love when photos mix things that at first don't seem like they would go together.  Like, for example, high fashion and eating ☺.  But seriously, I think one of the greatest combinations is having s beautiful model in a Marchesa gown, pigging out on a layer cake with pink and white frosting.  Because, hey we all need to eat right?  Even the models.

Above is just a cluster of sweets n' models, and some of the best ever taken are the ones above: (in my opinion) Coco Rocha in Vogue Nippon, Anja Rubik and Magdalena Frackowiak in Gala magazine, Lara Stone in Another magazine, and Natasha Poly in Vogue Paris.
And then of course if you're talking about elegance, beauty, fashion, and cake, you must must must include a photo from Marie Antoinette!!  (one of my favorite movies, Sofia Coppola is amazing.)
And it is still a dream of mine to go to Paris and go to the famous Ladurée pastry shop and get dozens of colorful macaroons. Yum!

Bringing back old Spring trends

A while ago, the trend of wearing underwear over outerwear started up.  I loved it as soon as I saw it, but I never actually tried it out.  I do have a sort of bustier (floral) at home, but I'm not sure about wearing it to school...(Oh, the joy of dress codes!)  But for others, the trick is to pick underwear that is somewhat casual.
Hint: maybe don't pick your skimpiest lace bra, and go for something more structured.

Below are a few styles I love inspired by the trend

1.  Emanuel Ungaro show - wrap bustier worn over tight shirt
2.  Alicepoint Alice wearing leather bustier dress over long-sleeve cotton
3.  Kate Moss wearing bustier over plain baggy tee
4.  Chicmuse Denni, in an H&M bustier over a t-shirt
5.  Seaofshoes Jane Aldridge in a shrunken leather vest over a button up

In Need Of Neon!

Especially in the winter, it is always refreshing to see a fluorescent yellow, or hot pink accessory lurking on the streets of New York.  It just brightens an outfit up, and makes others around them smile.  (and then put their sunglasses on)
I really need to do some serious shopping to add something neon to my closet.  What's especially high on my wish-list right now is a Cambridge satchel in a neon green, or orange (seen below: middle, all the way to the left).  I think it can really finish off a look, and it's definitely a traffic-stopper! So I'd better get a high-paying job pronto, to check that item off my list :)

Reviewing: Isabel Marant

So last year I was lucky enough to go to a show at Mercedes-Benz NYFW, which I really really loved.  It was the first show I had been to and ever since I have been obsessed with them - the beautiful clothing, the music, the hair and makeup... and how, even though there is complete chaos going on backstage, it seems to just come together for the audience.  The whole energy was amazing, and my heart beating along to the music, it was just spectacular.
Unfortunately this year, I wasn't able to get my hands on any tickets, but I am only 16, and I know I'll be going to more in the future :).  But I decided to do a little research on the shows and pick collections that I liked and....review!

This first one is  Isabel Marant Autumn/Winter '12.  First of all, I really like the hair styling.  I think the popularity of Isabel Marant's collections is partly due to the simplicity of the hair.   It's something that an everyday girl can relate to.  Yes, it can be interesting-looking to have crazy hair that's half up, half down, dyed a different color, or a huge afro.  But it is also really nice to have some relaxed hair because that can look really good on a runway, too
As for the clothing, of course, every piece is perfection.  Each look is cowgirl, with a modern edge.  They are so simple, with no accessories except a belt here and there.  Most of them had the flowery and almost paisley-like patterns, which were sweet and southern, and then toughened up with a black boot.
And in the 6th outfit, the ties from the pink shorts (from SS 2011) was brought back brought back, which was definitely a favorite.
As for the three black dresses at the end, as Rachel Zoe would say, "I die."  They are just the perfect casual yet edgy dresses for the average fashionista ;)
